Rapid Development
Balancing Speed, Quality and
Efficiency in Product Development
Projects
Sydney
The Marriott Circular Quay - 11th &
12th August 2008 (limited to 40
seats only) |
|
As
product life-cycles shorten, the
economic importance of development
speed increases. Yet, many companies
continue to rely on old management
approaches designed for a world of
sequential processes, functional
organizations, and stable
marketplaces... a world that no
longer exists. Such methods are
dangerously inappropriate. Instead,
companies must create a new
development environment based on
cross-functional teams and highly
overlapped processes. This new
environment requires project
trade-off rules, progressive
specification, and piecewise product
integration. This course is
primarily based on the content of
the book, "Developing Products in
Half the Time: New Rules, New
Tools". It focuses on the technical
and quantitative tools required to
execute a project rapidly. Its
foundation is an approach that
grounds project decisions solidly on
underlying economics instead of
vague philosophies. |

Managing the Design Factory
A Product Developer's Toolkit
Melbourne
Hilton on the Park - 13th & 14th
August 2008 (limited to 40 seats
only) |
|
Achieving dramatic improvements in
product development requires
discarding many widely held beliefs,
such as the idea that there is one
best way to develop products. The
purpose of this program is to
demonstrate another approach to
product development, one that is
based on careful, fact-based
analysis of underlying economics.
This course focuses on practical
tools and techniques that will
enable you to identify high payoff
improvements and justify them in
financial terms. This course is
primarily based on the content of
the book, "Managing the Design
Factory: A Product Developer's
Toolkit." |

Second Generation methods for Lean
Product Development
Adelaide
Technology Park Conference Centre,
Mawson Lakes - 15th August 2008 |
|
“Lean
principles” have been used for over
50 years in production processes.
Companies embracing these tools in
manufacturing have achieved huge
economic benefits. Why not apply
these principles to product
development? Unfortunately, it is
much harder than it sounds. This
workshop will help participants
identify and eliminate waste in
product development and will provide
an economic framework for
determining which lean techniques
will yield the greatest payback.
Delegates will learn practical tips
and strategies for applying the most
important Lean techniques to product
development processes. |
